Teacher Pay & Holiday Pay Policy

A clear explanation of how teaching staff are paid, including during scheduled Maktab holidays.

In short

1. Standard Rate of Pay

Teaching staff are paid at a standard rate of £13.00 per hour.

Pay is calculated on a timesheet basis. Staff are responsible for accurately recording the hours they have worked, and payment will be based on approved hours submitted through the relevant timesheet process.

This may include teaching hours as well as any additional approved duties undertaken for Rahma Academy.

2. Pay During Scheduled Maktab Holidays

During scheduled Maktab/Madrasah holiday periods, eligible teaching staff will normally receive payment equivalent to 80% of their standard hourly rate for the hours they would ordinarily have been scheduled to work had the Maktab remained open.

For example, where a teacher normally works on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, their holiday-period pay would be calculated based on their usual scheduled hours on those days.

This arrangement is subject to any statutory holiday entitlement applicable to the member of staff and the terms of their employment agreement.

3. Duties During Holiday Periods

Holiday periods may also be used for reasonable non-teaching duties connected with the running and development of the Maktab.

Staff receiving holiday-period pay may therefore be asked to undertake reasonable duties including:

Where additional approved work is carried out during a holiday period, the amount payable may increase above the standard 80% holiday-period amount.

However, total payment for the relevant normally scheduled hours will not exceed 100% of the teacher's normal £13.00 hourly rate, unless separate additional work has specifically been authorised.

5. Timesheets and Approval

Any teaching, administrative work, meetings or other duties undertaken must be recorded through the normal timesheet process.

Additional holiday-period duties should be agreed or authorised by management before being undertaken.

Rahma Academy reserves the right to amend this policy where necessary, including to reflect changes in statutory requirements, staffing arrangements or the operational needs of the Maktab.
